Elmina plane crash: No mayday call from crew, say cops

SHAH ALAM: There was no mayday call from the light aircraft prior to the crash that killed at least 10 people at the Elmina Township here.

Selangor police Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan the Beechcraft Premier I, a light business jet aircraft, was supposed to land at 2.40pm but crashed two minutes before it was scheduled to land.

"No emergency communication was relayed by the crew prior to crash," he told reporters at the scene.

"The aircraft which took off from Langkawi was cleared to land at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang when it lost communication with the control tower.

"The aircraft crashed on to the road here and hit a car and motorcycle.

"Based on our checks at least two crew members and six passengers were on board the flight. They all died at the scene," he told reporters at the scene.

He said the driver of the car and the motorcyclist died on impact.

"We have yet to establish if there were more people inside the car.
